AMISUN
The Straight Path (Qur'an 1:6)

Academic Council

The principal collegial body overseeing all academic matters, curriculum integrity, and scholarly standards at AMISUN.

Meetings and Deliberations

The Academic Council convenes formally at least four times a year, with special sessions as required. Meetings are conducted under Islamic principles of consultation (shūrā), transparency, and accountability. Every major academic reform—such as the introduction of a new degree program or changes in university-wide regulations—must pass through the Council's review and vote.

Philosophy of Governance

The Academic Council embodies the university's belief that true education must unite ethics with evidence, spirituality with science, and tradition with transformation. It operates as a collegial forum where scholars deliberate with humility, independence, and moral integrity.

Primary Responsibilities

The Academic Council oversees all academic matters essential to the University's mission. Its responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Advising the Presidency on academic appointments, promotions, and professional development of faculty.
  • Approving research proposals and monitoring research ethics and compliance.
  • Ensuring that every course and degree aligns with AMISUN's mission of ethical human development and global inclusivity.
  • Formulating and approving new academic programs, curricula, and course structures.
  • Recommending policy on international academic cooperation and student exchange.
  • Reviewing and updating academic regulations and assessment standards.
  • Supervising the integrity of examinations, grading, and degree conferral processes.

Structure and Composition

The Council is composed of senior academic leaders representing the various pillars of the University's operations. Its structure ensures broad representation from multiple disciplines and perspectives within the Islamic and global academic community.

  • Deans of all Faculties and Schools
  • Directors of Research Centers and Institutes
  • Head of Quality Assurance and Accreditation
  • Registrar of the University (Secretary)
  • Representatives of faculty and students as observers or invitees
  • The President of the University (Chair of the Council)
  • Vice President for Academic Affairs

Sub-Committees

To facilitate its work, the Council forms specialized sub-committees in the areas of:

  • Curriculum and Program Development
  • Ethics and Islamic Integration
  • Faculty and Staff Affairs
  • Quality Assurance and Accreditation
  • Research and Publications

Each sub-committee is chaired by a senior academic and reports its findings and recommendations to the Council during scheduled meetings. This structure enables both depth of review and agility in decision-making.

Through continuous dialogue and reflective scholarship, the Academic Council ensures that AMISUN remains a university for all—where learning is worship, and every discovery is a step toward understanding the Creator's signs in the universe.
