Coordinate the advising of all Masters and Ph.D. students for all aspects of their academic work, including courses, examinations,
thesis-advisor selection, and internships.
Serve as primary academic advisor for all first-year graduate students.
Work with the Graduate Program Administrator on matters
related to student TF and RA appointments, fellowships, etc…
Select and appoint the departmental Teaching Fellows.
Determine the financial aid awards for all continuing graduate students.
Chair departmental Graduate Committee.
Lead responsibility for periodic review and revision of graduate
curriculum.
Oversee all aspects of graduate examinations (written and oral).
Assist in the preparation of the course- and teaching-schedules for the graduate courses each AY.
Serve as the primary departmental liaison to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences for all matters related to graduate programs and all current graduate students.
Serve as a lead PI on departmental training grants.
Lead responsibility for ensuring that all PhD students have sufficient
Summer support.
Oversee the work of the Staff Coordinator for textbook ordering for all graduate courses.
Serve as the faculty advisor to the graduate student chapter of the Islamic and Faith based Society.
Sponsor regular, monthly get-togethers of all of the graduate students and faculty.
Lead responsibility for approval for maternity leave and other leaves for PhD students.
With the Graduate program Administrator, oversee the Program Learning
Outcomes Assessment for graduate degree programs in Mathematics.
Lead responsibility for handling cases of graduate academic misconduct.
Serve on all departmental Executive Committees.
